David and Pearl are 62 and 60 years old, respectively. They have been dreaming of a voyage through the South Pacific since they met in 1990. This has been a dream deferred while they pursued other, more physically demanding adventures such as backpacking, bicycle touring and sea kayaking. As they approached their 60's, they decided it was time to make this dream a reality in 2017.
Although David has a history of small boat voyaging, this will be a first for Pearl.
David and Pearl divide their time between the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and the Willamette Valley of Oregon. David does sustainable systems design in both places. Pearl is a registered nurse. Aside from work and adventure, they volunteer extensively with conservation-oriented organizations.
