Nuku Hiva, July 6, 2017--Departure!

We just picked up our immigration extensions!

Pearl is running one last errand and then we hope to depart, winds permitting.  So, this will likely be our last blog post from the Marquesas. Pearl is feeling a bit nostalgic for Nuku Hiva and also a bit apprehensive about setting off again.  I think every sailor feels that before an offshore passage.  It's never something to be taken lightly and, no matter how smoothly it goes, is always a major change from life at anchor.   With the local uke and guitar group playing lovely polynesian tunes this morning, it's hard to leave.

For anyone who didn't get our map page update yesterday, we're hoping to sail to Toau Atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago.  It's about 550 nautical miles from here and we're hoping to make around 100 miles a day.  If all goes well, we should arrive around the 11th or 12th.  Just checked weather and the window appears to be holding until then.

We'll be posting on the map page daily and look forward to seeing you there.

Our immigration extensions in hand!!!!

Pearl bids goodby to Henri, the proprietor of the Snack.  A good hearted fellow providing a wonderful service to both the sailing and the local community.
